This medicine is used in vitamin B1, B6, B12 deficiency states and in their various clinical manifestations: deficiency polyneuritis (inflammation of the peripheral nerves due to vitamin deficiency), neuritis (inflammation of the peripheral nerves) during treatment with isoniazid (an antituberculosis drug) and other vitamin B6 antagonists (medicines that hinder the action of vitamin B6).\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003e Benexol tablets are also indicated in the adjuvant therapy of non-deficiency neuritis (inflammation of the peripheral nerves not due to vitamin deficiency) and during radiotherapy.\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003e Talk to your doctor if you do not feel better or if you feel worse after a period of treatment.\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003e \u003cb\u003eWhat you need to know before taking the medicine\u003c\/b\u003e\u003cbr\u003e \u003cb\u003eDo not take Benexol tablets\u003c\/b\u003e \u003cbr\u003e- if you are allergic to vitamins B1, B6 or B12 or any of the other ingredients of this medicine (listed in section 6);\u003cbr\u003e - if you suffer from renal or hepatic insufficiency (reduced kidney or liver function);\u003cbr\u003e - if you are pregnant or breastfeeding (see \"Pregnancy and breastfeeding\");\u003cbr\u003e - if you are under 12 years of age (see \"Children and adolescents\").\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003e \u003cb\u003eWarnings and precautions\u003c\/b\u003e\u003cbr\u003e Talk to your doctor or pharmacist before taking Benexol tablets.\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003e Do not take Benexol tablets in higher doses or for longer periods than recommended, as an overdose may be associated with serious neurotoxicity (damage to the nervous system) (risk of overdose, see \"If you take more Benexol tablets than you should\").\u003cbr\u003e   \u003cbr\u003eBe especially careful if you are taking levodopa (a medicine used to treat Parkinson's disease) at the same time, as pyridoxine (vitamin B6) in high doses may antagonise its therapeutic effect (see \"Other medicines and Benexol tablets\").\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003e \u003cb\u003eChildren and adolescents\u003c\/b\u003e\u003cbr\u003e Due to the high dosage of vitamin B6, Benexol tablets should not be administered to children and adolescents under 12 years of age (see \"Do not take Benexol tablets\").\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003e \u003cb\u003ePossible side effects\u003c\/b\u003e\u003cbr\u003e Like all medicines, this medicine can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them.\u003cbr\u003e The adverse reactions listed below are derived from spontaneous reports and it is not possible to estimate their frequency.\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003e \u003cb\u003eEffects on the gastrointestinal system\u003c\/b\u003e\u003cbr\u003e - diarrhea,\u003cbr\u003e - dyspepsia (indigestion),\u003cbr\u003e - nausea,\u003cbr\u003e - vomit,\u003cbr\u003e - gastrointestinal and abdominal pain (stomach ache).\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003e \u003cb\u003eEffects on the immune system\u003c\/b\u003e \u003cbr\u003e- allergic reaction and anaphylactic reaction,\u003cbr\u003e - allergic reactions manifestations including asthma syndrome, mild to moderate reactions affecting the skin and\/or respiratory tract, gastrointestinal tract and\/or cardiovascular system.
