To measure the temperature of the newborn rectally, lie him on a hard surface on one side and move his legs towards the chest, holding him still so that he cannot turn during the measurement. Remember that the internal body temperature is always slightly higher than the external one (about 0.5°C).\u003cbr\u003e\n 4.
