It can cause complications, especially during pregnancy and childbirth, so it must be managed appropriately.
Discharge caused by trichomoniasis is yellow-green, frothy, and is usually associated with foul odor, vulvar itching, and painful urination.
In both infections the pH is high.
On the other hand, vaginal pH in cases of candida infection is generally normal.
The discharge is white, thick and reminiscent of fresh cheese (ricotta), without any unpleasant odors.
Candida is associated with intense itching and burning in the vagina and vulvar area.
The normal pH of the vagina (pH is an indicator of acidity) can range from 3.5 to 4.5(1).
Bacterial vaginosis and trichomonas infections, as well as non-infectious causes (including estrogen deficiency, menopause, or postmenopause), cause an increase in vaginal pH.
With a change in color on the yellow tip of the swab, Gyno-Canestest indicates whether the pH of vaginal secretions is normal or high.
A positive test (color change to blue/green) indicates a high vaginal pH level.
A negative test (no color change) indicates a normal vaginal pH.
The results are based on an indication of the pH level and have been shown to be useful in detecting, with an accuracy greater than 90%*, any changes in vaginal pH even in the case of watery secretions of varying levels.

How to use
1. Discard the single Gyno-Canestest (swab).
2. Make sure the tip of the swab does not come into contact with any object before inserting it into the vaginal entrance.
3. Hold Gyno-Canestest with your fingers on the swab holder.
4. Separate the outer flaps of skin to expose the vagina.
5. Gently insert the yellow tip of the Gyno-Canestest until your fingers reach the outer skin of the vagina (about 5 cm inside the vagina) and rotate the swab several times. Do not touch the vaginal entrance.
6. Remove Gyno-Canestest from the vagina. Carefully avoid letting the tip come into contact with any object and check that it has collected a visible amount of secretion.
An insufficient amount of secretion on the test may cause a false negative result.
7. Wait 10 seconds. Check the Gyno-Canestest tip for any color changes from yellow to blue or green. Results should be read 10 seconds after collecting the secretion. A positive result will remain stable for up to 30 minutes.
Caution: If blood spots appear on the Gyno-Canestest, ignore the results and consult your doctor.
8. Discard Gyno-Canestest after use as with any other feminine hygiene product after checking the results. Do not flush it down the toilet.

Reading the results
Color change to blue or green (positive result):
If the tip turns blue or green after 10 seconds, this indicates that the vaginal pH has increased. If you are also experiencing the following symptoms:
- milky (homogeneous) fluid discharge of white-grey colour with a fishy odor may indicate a bacterial vaginosis infection.
- yellow-green, frothy discharge associated with foul odor and painful urination may indicate trichomoniasis infection.
A partial blue or green mark on the yellow indicator at the swab tip is considered a positive result. If in doubt, consult your doctor or pharmacist for advice.
For example, if the tip turns blue or green but the associated symptoms described in the table are not present, consult your doctor or pharmacist.
No color change/swab remains yellow (negative result):
If the tip does not turn blue or green after 10 seconds, this indicates that the vaginal pH is normal. The likelihood of a bacterial or trichomoniasis infection is low. If you are experiencing the following symptoms:
- White, thick, cottage cheese-like discharge without an unpleasant odor may indicate a vaginal yeast infection, known as candidiasis.

Warnings
1. To ensure the validity of the results, do not perform Gyno-Canestest in any of the following circumstances: (a) it is less than one day before your period or it is the day of your period; (b) there are signs of menstruation or vaginal bleeding; (c) less than 12 hours have passed since sexual intercourse or vaginal douching.
All of the above conditions can cause false positive results.
2. Do not insert the swab deeper than the manipulation point.
3. If you are pregnant, consult your doctor before use, as interpreting test results during pregnancy requires professional knowledge.
4. Some menopausal and postmenopausal women may have a high vaginal pH, and the test may show a green/blue result even if they do not have bacterial vaginosis or trichomoniasis. Therefore, this test should not be used if you are menopausal or postmenopausal.

Conservation
Store in a dry place at room temperature.
Check the expiration date shown on the individual test packaging.
Keep the Gyno-Canestest individually wrapped in sealed foil and use it immediately after opening.

Format
1 Gyno-Canestest (swab) individually wrapped in aluminum foil.
1 leaflet.
