{"product_id":"levotuss-scir-200-ml-30-mg-5-ml","title":"LEVOTUSS 30 MG\/5 ML SYRUP 1 BOTTLE 200 ML","description":"\u003cb\u003eName\u003c\/b\u003e\u003cbr\u003e \u003cb\u003eLevotuss 30 mg\/5 ml syrup\u003c\/b\u003e\u003cbr\u003e levodropropizine\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003e \u003cb\u003eWhat it is and what it is used for\u003c\/b\u003e\u003cbr\u003e Levotuss contains the active substance levodropropizine, a substance that belongs to a group of medicines called cough suppressants.\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003e This medicine is used to treat cough symptoms.\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003e Talk to your doctor if you do not feel better or if you feel worse after 2 weeks of treatment.\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003e \u003cb\u003eWhat you need to know before taking the medicine\u003c\/b\u003e\u003cbr\u003e \u003cb\u003eDo not take Levotuss:\u003c\/b\u003e\u003cbr\u003e - if you are allergic to levodropropizine or any of the other ingredients of this medicine (listed in section 6);\u003cbr\u003e - if you suffer from a bronchial disease characterised by excessive mucus production (bronchial hypersecretion);\u003cbr\u003e - if you have suffered from certain respiratory mucosal disorders since birth, characterised by a reduced ability to expel mucus (Kartagener's syndrome, ciliary dyskinesia); \u003cbr\u003e- if you are pregnant or breast-feeding (see subsection “Pregnancy and breast-feeding”).\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003e Do not give this medicine to children under two years of age (see subsection “Children”).\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003e \u003cb\u003eWarnings and precautions\u003c\/b\u003e\u003cbr\u003e Talk to your doctor or pharmacist before taking Levotuss:\u003cbr\u003e - if you suffer from severely reduced kidney function (severe renal insufficiency with creatinine clearance below 35 ml\/min);\u003cbr\u003e - if you are an elderly person, since sensitivity to various medicines is altered in elderly people;\u003cbr\u003e - if you are taking sedative medicines to treat anxiety and are a particularly sensitive individual (see subsection “Other medicines and Levotuss”).\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003e Cough medicines only treat the symptoms and should be used only while awaiting diagnosis of the underlying cause and\/or the effect of therapy on the underlying disease. \u003cbr\u003eTherefore do not use for prolonged treatments. After a short period of treatment (2 weeks) without appreciable results, consult your doctor.\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003e \u003cb\u003eChildren\u003c\/b\u003e\u003cbr\u003e Do not give this medicine to children under 2 years of age (see subsection “Do not take Levotuss”).\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003e \u003cb\u003ePossible side effects\u003c\/b\u003e\u003cbr\u003e Like all medicines, this medicine can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them.\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003e Most adverse reactions that occurred following the intake of levodropropizine were non-serious and the symptoms resolved with the suspension of therapy and, in some cases, with specific pharmacological treatment.\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003e The adverse reactions reported have an unknown frequency (frequency cannot be estimated from the available data):\u003cbr\u003e - mydriasis (dilation of the pupil of the eye), bilateral blindness (affects both eyes); \u003cbr\u003e- allergic and anaphylactoid reactions, eyelid edema (swelling of the eyelid), angioneurotic edema (swelling of the deep dermis and subcutaneous tissue which may also involve the mucous membranes), urticaria;\u003cbr\u003e - nervousness, drowsiness, personality change, personality disorder;\u003cbr\u003e - syncope (transient loss of consciousness), dizziness, vertigo, tremors, paraesthesia (abnormal sensation on the skin, tingling), tonic-clonic convulsions (grand mal) and petit mal seizures, hypoglycaemic coma (loss of consciousness caused by a severe reduction in blood sugar levels);\u003cbr\u003e - palpitations, tachycardia (rapid heartbeat), atrial bigeminy (irregular heartbeat);\u003cbr\u003e - hypotension (low blood pressure);\u003cbr\u003e - dyspnea (difficulty breathing), cough, edema (swelling) of the respiratory tract;\u003cbr\u003e - stomach pain, abdominal pain, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea;\u003cbr\u003e - cholestatic hepatitis (inflammation of the liver due to blockage of bile excretion); \u003cbr\u003e- urticaria, erythema (redness of the skin), exanthema (skin rash), pruritus, angioedema (swelling of the face and mucous membranes), skin reactions, glossitis (inflammation of the tongue) and aphthous stomatitis (painful ulcers in the mouth);\u003cbr\u003e - epidermolysis (rare and potentially serious skin diseases);\u003cbr\u003e - weakness of the lower limbs;\u003cbr\u003e - general malaise, generalized edema (swelling), asthenia (physical weakness).\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003e \u003cb\u003eAdditional side effects in infants breastfed by mothers who have taken levodropropizine\u003c\/b\u003e\u003cbr\u003e A case of drowsiness, hypotonia (reduced muscle tone) and vomiting in a newborn after levodropropizine intake by the nursing mother has been reported. The symptoms appeared after feeding and resolved spontaneously after stopping breastfeeding for a few feedings.\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003e Following the instructions in the package leaflet reduces the risk of side effects.\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003e \u003cb\u003eReporting of side effects\u003c\/b\u003e \u003cbr\u003eIf you get any side effects, talk to your doctor or pharmacist.
