Mepilex can be used to protect damaged and\/or delicate skin and can also be used as part of a wound prevention protocol, such as for pressure ulcers.\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003e \u003cb\u003eHow to use\u003c\/b\u003e\u003cbr\u003e Mepilex can be used by lay people under the supervision of a healthcare professional.\u003cbr\u003e 1. Clean the wound according to standard clinical protocols.\u003cbr\u003e 2. Carefully dry the periwound skin. \u003cbr\u003e3. Select the appropriate dressing size. Mepilex should cover the periwound skin by at least 1–2 cm for small sizes (up to 12.5 x 12.5 cm).\u003cbr\u003e and for at least 3-5 cm for larger sizes, in order to protect the periwound skin from maceration and secure the dressing securely.\u003cbr\u003e If necessary, Mepilex can be cut to size to fit different shapes and anatomical areas.\u003cbr\u003e 4. Remove the first protective film and apply the adherent side to the wound.\u003cbr\u003e 5. Remove the remaining film and spread the dressing over the skin.\u003cbr\u003e Do not tighten the dressing.\u003cbr\u003e 6. When necessary, secure Mepilex with a bandage or other type of fixation.\u003cbr\u003e The dressing can be changed after several days.
