Mucosolvan is used \u003cb\u003ein adults and children over 6 years of age\u003c\/b\u003e for the treatment of secretions in acute and chronic bronchial and lung diseases (i.e. in the presence of cough and in case of difficulty expelling phlegm from the bronchi because it is increased or thickened).\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003e \u003cb\u003eWhat you need to know before taking the medicine\u003c\/b\u003e\u003cbr\u003e \u003cb\u003eDo not use Mucosolvan\u003c\/b\u003e\u003cbr\u003e - if you\/your child is allergic to ambroxol or any of the other ingredients of this medicine (listed in section 6);\u003cbr\u003e - if you\/your child has severe liver or kidney disease; \u003cbr\u003e- in case of rare hereditary conditions of incompatibility with one of the excipients (see paragraph 2. “Mucosolvan gummy tablets contain sorbitol).\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003e The use of Mucosolvan during the first trimester of pregnancy and during breastfeeding is not recommended (see paragraph 2 “Pregnancy, breastfeeding and fertility”).\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003e \u003cb\u003eWarnings and precautions\u003c\/b\u003e\u003cbr\u003e Talk to your doctor or pharmacist before using Mucosolvan: - if you\/your child has\/has had lesions of the stomach and\/or intestine (peptic ulcer).\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003e Cases of serious skin reactions associated with the administration of ambroxol have been reported. If you develop a skin rash (including lesions of mucous membranes such as mouth, throat, nose, eyes, genitals), stop taking Mucosolvan and contact your doctor immediately. \u003cbr\u003eSuch reactions could be symptoms of serious skin diseases characterized by peeling of the skin and severe toxic skin reaction (Stevens-Johnson syndrome and Toxic Epidermal Necrolysis).\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003e Additionally, in the early stages of Stevens-Johnson syndrome or Toxic Epidermal Necrolysis (TEN), you\/your child may experience nonspecific flu-like symptoms, such as fever, chills, runny nose (rhinitis), cough, and sore throat. Because of these misleading symptoms, you may need to start symptomatic treatment again with cough and cold therapy.\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003e \u003cb\u003eChildren\u003c\/b\u003e\u003cbr\u003e Do not give this medicine to children under 6 years of age.\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003e \u003cb\u003ePossible side effects\u003c\/b\u003e\u003cbr\u003e Like all medicines, this medicine can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them.\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003e The following side effects may occur following the use of Mucosolvan: \u003cbr\u003e\u003cb\u003ecommon (may affect up to 1 in 10 people)\u003c\/b\u003e\u003cbr\u003e - nausea, altered taste (dysgeusia), numbness of the mouth and tongue (oral hypoaesthesia), numbness of the throat (pharyngeal hypoaesthesia);\u003cbr\u003e \u003cb\u003euncommon (may affect up to 1 in 100 people)\u003c\/b\u003e\u003cbr\u003e - vomiting, diarrhoea and abdominal pain, difficulty in digesting (dyspepsia), dry mouth;\u003cbr\u003e \u003cb\u003erare (may affect up to 1 in 1,000 people)\u003c\/b\u003e\u003cbr\u003e - hypersensitivity reactions, skin rash, appearance of red spots on the skin accompanied by itching (urticaria), dry throat;\u003cbr\u003e \u003cb\u003enot known (frequency cannot be estimated from the available data)\u003c\/b\u003e\u003cbr\u003e - anaphylactic reactions, including anaphylactic shock, angioedema (rapidly developing swelling of the skin, subcutaneous tissues, mucosa and submucosal tissues) and pruritus; \u003cbr\u003e- severe cutaneous adverse reactions (including erythema multiforme, Stevens-Johnson syndrome\/toxic epidermal necrolysis and acute generalized exanthematous pustulosis), heartburn (pyrosis).\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003e These side effects are usually temporary.
