Therefore, treatment should be short-term.\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003e \u003cb\u003eDo not take Recotuss Sedative\u003c\/b\u003e\u003cbr\u003e - if you are allergic to dextromethorphan hydrobromide or any of the other ingredients of this medicine (listed in section 6);\u003cbr\u003e - if you are allergic to other substances belonging to the same family as dextromethorphan hydrobromide (which is the active ingredient in Recotuss Sedative); in particular to other cough medicines such as dimemorphan, codeine and dihydrocodeine; \u003cbr\u003e- if you are taking, or have taken in the previous two weeks, medicines used for depression (antidepressants) (see “Other medicines and Recotuss Sedative”).\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003e \u003cb\u003eWarnings and precautions\u003c\/b\u003e\u003cbr\u003e Talk to your doctor or pharmacist before taking Recotuss Sedative.\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003e Use Recotuss Sedative only after consulting your doctor if:\u003cbr\u003e • has breathing difficulties (asthma);\u003cbr\u003e • is for a child under two years of age (see “Children”);\u003cbr\u003e • you are pregnant or breastfeeding (see “Pregnancy and breastfeeding”);\u003cbr\u003e • is very weak (debilitated).\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003e Talk to your doctor or pharmacist before taking Recotuss Sedative:\u003cbr\u003e \u003cbr\u003e• if you are taking medicines such as some antidepressants or antipsychotics: Recotuss Sedative may interact with these medicines and changes in mental status (e.g. agitation, hallucinations, coma) and other effects such as body temperature above 38°C, increased heart rate, unstable blood pressure, exaggerated reflexes, muscle stiffness, lack of coordination and\/or gastrointestinal symptoms (e.g. nausea, vomiting, diarrhoea) may occur.\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003e \u003cb\u003eChildren\u003c\/b\u003e\u003cbr\u003e In the case of children under two years of age, use Recotuss Sedativo only after consulting your doctor.\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003e \u003cb\u003ePossible side effects\u003c\/b\u003e\u003cbr\u003e Like all medicines, this medicine can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them.\u003cbr\u003e During therapy the following may occur:\u003cbr\u003e • drowsiness\u003cbr\u003e • stomach and intestinal disorders (nausea, vomiting)\u003cbr\u003e • dizziness.\u003cbr\u003e Following the instructions in the package leaflet reduces the risk of side effects. \u003cbr\u003eThese side effects are generally temporary.
