This medicine is indicated for the treatment of constipation and to empty the intestine before and after surgical operations or certain clinical examinations, such as radiological examinations or intestinal explorations with an endoscope.\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003e Contact your doctor if you notice no improvement or if you notice worsening of symptoms after a few days.\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003e \u003cb\u003eWhat you need to know before taking the medicine\u003c\/b\u003e\u003cbr\u003e \u003cb\u003eDo not use SODIUM PHOSPHATE MARCO VITI\u003c\/b\u003e\u003cbr\u003e - if you are allergic to sodium phosphate monobasic monohydrate, sodium phosphate dibasic heptahydrate or any of the other ingredients of this medicine (listed in section 6); \u003cbr\u003e- if you experience acute abdominal pain or pain of unknown origin;\u003cbr\u003e - if you feel nauseated or sick;\u003cbr\u003e - if you suffer from blockage or narrowing of the intestine or rectum (intestinal sub-occlusion or stenosis or anorectal stenosis);\u003cbr\u003e - if you suffer from particular intestinal problems such as mechanical ileus, paralytic ileus, congenital or acquired megacolon, Hirschsprung's disease, inflammation or other conditions that may increase the absorption of the medicine;\u003cbr\u003e - if you experience problems in the terminal part of the intestine such as rectal bleeding, acute haemorrhoids with pain and bleeding, anal perforation;\u003cbr\u003e - if you are severely dehydrated;\u003cbr\u003e - if the person who is to take the medicine is a child under 12 years of age;\u003cbr\u003e - if you suffer from heart and\/or kidney problems (severe renal failure);\u003cbr\u003e - if you experience increased levels of phosphate in your blood (hyperphosphatemia); \u003cbr\u003e- if you are already taking other preparations containing sodium phosphate, such as oral solutions or sodium phosphate tablets.\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003e \u003cb\u003eWarnings and precautions\u003c\/b\u003e\u003cbr\u003e Talk to your doctor or pharmacist before using SODIUM PHOSPHATE MARCO VITI.\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003e If you use this medicine excessively, frequently or incorrectly, you may experience persistent diarrhoea, resulting in loss of water, mineral salts (especially potassium) and other essential nutrients. In more serious cases, you may experience dehydration and low levels of potassium in the blood (hypokalaemia), with possible problems with your heart, nerves and muscles, especially if you are taking medicines for heart problems (cardiac glycosides), diuretics or corticosteroids at the same time. \u003cbr\u003eDrink fluids to prevent dehydration, especially if you have conditions that may facilitate fluid loss, or if you are taking medicines that act on the kidneys, such as diuretics, angiotensin converting enzyme inhibitors (ACE inhibitors), angiotensin receptor blockers (sartans) or nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs).\u003cbr\u003e Since Sodium Phosphate Marco Viti contains sodium phosphates, there may be an increase in the amount of sodium and phosphate in the blood (hypernatremia, hyperphosphatemia) and a decrease in the amount of calcium and potassium in the blood (hypocalcemia and hypokalemia), which can lead to involuntary muscle contraction (tetany) and kidney problems (renal failure).\u003cbr\u003e   \u003cbr\u003eIf you use this medicine excessively or incorrectly, you may develop dependence (with the consequent need to gradually increase the dose), long-lasting (chronic) constipation and loss of normal intestinal functions (intestinal atony).\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003e Avoid prolonged use of this medicine. If you have been constipated for more than 2 weeks, if you notice any changes in your usual bowel movements or stool characteristics, or if you do not feel better after using this medicine, contact your doctor.\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003e Use this medicine with caution and after consulting your doctor if you are elderly or if you are not in good health or if you suffer from cardiovascular problems (uncontrolled blood pressure, heart disease), ascites or changes in the rectal mucosa (ulcers, fissures).\u003cbr\u003e If you encounter resistance when taking the medicine, stop using it immediately because forced administration may cause injury.\u003cbr\u003e   \u003cbr\u003eThe use of laxatives should be considered a supportive therapy. In case of constipation, first of all correct your eating habits, taking an adequate amount of fiber and water and doing physical activity. When using laxatives it is advisable to drink at least 6-8 glasses of water, or other liquids, per day, in order to promote the softening of the stool.\u003cbr\u003e In most cases, a balanced diet rich in water and fiber (bran, vegetables and fruit) can permanently solve the problem of constipation. Many people mistakenly think they suffer from constipation if they are unable to evacuate every day, in fact this situation is often completely normal.
