It softens the stool and causes the evacuation reflex (defecation).\u003cbr\u003e Stitilax is used for the treatment of occasional constipation.\u003cbr\u003e   \u003cbr\u003eThis medicine is intended for use in adults only.\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003e \u003cb\u003eWhat you need to know before taking the medicine\u003c\/b\u003e\u003cbr\u003e \u003cb\u003eDo not use Stitilax:\u003c\/b\u003e\u003cbr\u003e • if you are allergic to the active substances (sorbitol, sodium citrate, sodium lauryl sulfoacetate) or to any of the other ingredients of this medicine (listed in section 6);\u003cbr\u003e • if you have abdominal pain of which you are unaware of the cause;\u003cbr\u003e • if you are taking cation exchange resins such as calcium or sodium polystyrene sulfonate (orally and rectally), medicines for the treatment of hyperkalemia.\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003e \u003cb\u003eWarnings and precautions\u003c\/b\u003e\u003cbr\u003e Talk to your doctor or pharmacist before using Stitilax.\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003e You should tell your doctor if:\u003cbr\u003e • suffers from hemorrhoids;\u003cbr\u003e • suffers from anal fissure (a lesion located in the anus which during evacuation can cause persistent pain for several hours); \u003cbr\u003e• suffer from Crohn's disease or ulcerative colitis (diseases characterized by inflammation of the rectum and large intestine which manifest themselves with symptoms such as stomach ache, diarrhoea with mucus or blood and, often, tiredness).\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003e \u003cb\u003ePossible side effects\u003c\/b\u003e\u003cbr\u003e Like all medicines, this medicine can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them.\u003cbr\u003e The following side effects have been reported with unknown frequency:\u003cbr\u003e • abdominal pain;\u003cbr\u003e • anorectal discomfort;\u003cbr\u003e • loose stools;\u003cbr\u003e • hypersensitivity reactions (hives).\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003e \u003cb\u003eReporting of side effects\u003c\/b\u003e\u003cbr\u003e If you get any side effects, talk to your doctor or pharmacist.
