AlovexLabiale is active specifically against herpes viruses, including the \u003cem\u003eHerpes simplex\u003c\/em\u003e virus.\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003e AlovexLabiale is used to treat \u003cem\u003eherpes simplex\u003c\/em\u003e virus infections of the lips that recur over time (recurrent \u003cem\u003eherpes labialis\u003c\/em\u003e ) in adults and adolescents (over 12 years of age).\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003e Contact your doctor if you do not feel better or if you feel worse after 10 days.\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003e \u003cb\u003eWhat you need to know before taking the medicine\u003c\/b\u003e\u003cbr\u003e \u003cb\u003eDo not use AlovexLabiale\u003c\/b\u003e\u003cbr\u003e - if you are allergic to aciclovir or any of the other ingredients of this medicine (listed in section 6);\u003cbr\u003e - if you are allergic to another medicine containing valaciclovir;\u003cbr\u003e - if you are a child under 12 years of age.\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003e \u003cb\u003eWarnings and precautions\u003c\/b\u003e\u003cbr\u003e Talk to your doctor or pharmacist before using AlovexLabiale.\u003cbr\u003e   \u003cbr\u003eAlovexLabiale should only be applied to \u003cem\u003eHerpes simplex\u003c\/em\u003e lesions on the lips; application inside the mouth, eyes, nose or vagina (mucous membranes) is not recommended because it may cause irritation.\u003cbr\u003e Do not use AlovexLabiale to treat genital herpes.\u003cbr\u003e Take special care to avoid accidental application in the eyes.\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003e Use, especially if prolonged, of the product may give rise to allergic reactions. If this happens, stop treatment and consult your doctor.\u003cbr\u003e If you suffer from particularly severe forms of cold sores that recur over time, consult your doctor.\u003cbr\u003e If you suffer from cold sores, avoid transmitting the virus, especially when small blisters (active lesions) are present (see section Health education notes). \u003cbr\u003eDo not use AlovexLabiale if you have a condition in which the body's defense systems do not work well (AIDS or bone marrow transplant). In these cases, consult your doctor for the treatment of herpes labialis and any other infection.\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003e \u003cb\u003eHealth education notes\u003c\/b\u003e\u003cbr\u003e Cold sores are contagious, so you should not let other people touch the sores or use personal items that could transmit the infection (such as a towel).\u003cbr\u003e After applying the medicine, do not touch other parts of the body with your fingers, especially your eyes, until you have washed your hands. Always wash your hands before and after touching the lesions.\u003cbr\u003e Avoid touching your eyes. Herpes infection of the eyes can lead to lesions on the outer part of the eyes (corneal ulcers).\u003cbr\u003e Avoid kissing - especially children - when you have lesions. \u003cbr\u003eAvoid popping small blisters and scratching scabs. Not only could you infect the lesions with other germs, but you could also infect your fingers with the virus.\u003cbr\u003e Avoid sharing glasses, cutlery, etc. with other people.\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003e \u003cb\u003eChildren\u003c\/b\u003e\u003cbr\u003e AlovexLabiale is contraindicated in children under 12 years of age.\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003e \u003cb\u003ePossible side effects\u003c\/b\u003e\u003cbr\u003e Like all medicines, this medicine can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them.\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003e \u003cb\u003eUncommon (may affect up to 1 in 100 people)\u003c\/b\u003e\u003cbr\u003e • transient burning or pain after application;\u003cbr\u003e • moderate dryness or flaking of the skin;\u003cbr\u003e • itching sensation.\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003e \u003cb\u003eRare (may affect up to 1 in 1,000 people)\u003c\/b\u003e\u003cbr\u003e • irritation and redness of the skin (erythema);\u003cbr\u003e • inflammation of the skin (contact dermatitis) after application.\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003e \u003cb\u003eVery rare (may affect up to 1 in 10,000 people)\u003c\/b\u003e \u003cbr\u003e• immediate allergic reactions including swelling of the face, lips, tongue and other parts of the body (angioedema) and hives.\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003e \u003cb\u003eReporting of side effects\u003c\/b\u003e\u003cbr\u003e If you get any side effects, talk to your doctor or pharmacist.
