What it is and what it is used for
This medicine contains the active substance silver proteinate, which inhibits the growth of bacteria and kills them.
SILVER PROTEINATED NEW.FA.DEM. is indicated for the treatment of infections caused by bacteria (antiseptic) of the nasal mucosa and the external ear (ear canal) and as a decongestant of the nasal mucosa.
Talk to your doctor if you do not feel better or if you feel worse after a few days.
What you need to know before taking the medicine
Do not use NEW.FA.DEM PROTEINATED SILVER.
- if you are allergic to silver proteinate or any of the other ingredients of this medicine (listed in section 6).
Warnings and precautions
Talk to your doctor or pharmacist before using SILVER PROTEINATE NEW.FA.DEM.
Avoid the simultaneous use of products based on a substance called papain (see the section “Other medicines and SILVER PROTEINATE NEW.FA.DEM.”).
Use this medicine at the recommended doses and according to the instructions for use recommended in this leaflet.
This medicine, if accidentally taken by mouth or if used for long periods of time at excessive doses, can cause toxic effects (see the paragraph “If you use more SILVER PROTEINATE NEW.FA.DEM. than you should”).
Possible side effects
Like all medicines, this medicine can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them.
Talk to your doctor if you experience any of the following side effects:
Frequency not known (frequency cannot be estimated from the available data):
- skin irritation (dermatitis, rash), burning;
- alteration of skin color (skin discoloration);
- allergic reactions (hypersensitivity reactions);
- skin coloration from gray to dark blue (argyria).
Following the instructions in the package leaflet reduces the risk of side effects.
Reporting of side effects
