What it is and what it is used for
FERTOMCIDINA "U" is an aqueous solution of salt-bromine-iodine used for disinfecting and cleaning the skin in case of small superficial wounds.
Talk to your doctor if you do not feel better or if you feel worse.
What you need to know before taking the medicine
Do not use FERTOMCIDINA "U"
- if you are allergic to the active substances or any of the other ingredients of this medicine (listed in section 6)
- if you suffer from thyroid problems
- in case of pregnancy and breastfeeding
Warnings and precautions
Talk to your doctor or pharmacist before using FERTOMCIDINA “U”.
•Do not use the product for prolonged treatments: after a short period of treatment without appreciable results, it is necessary to consult your doctor. The use, especially if prolonged, of products for topical (local) use can give rise to sensitization phenomena (excessive reaction of the organism to foreign substances with which it has come into contact). In this case, stop the treatment and consult your doctor to start an appropriate therapy.
• The product is for external use only.
•Do not apply a bandage because it does not allow the treated area to breathe.
• Avoid use on large surfaces and contact with eyes.
• Accidental ingestion or inhalation of some disinfectants can have serious, sometimes fatal, consequences. In case of accidental ingestion, consult a doctor immediately.
The product may leave stains on clothing that can be removed with water; avoid using soap.
Possible side effects
Like all medicines, this medicine can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them.
Burning or irritation (intolerance) may occur.
The reaction of iodine with damaged tissues can delay healing. Application to burns or abrasions of large surface areas can produce absorption of iodine into the blood: in these cases, monitoring of thyroid function is recommended.
Following the instructions in the package leaflet reduces the risk of side effects.
Reporting of side effects
If you get any side effects, talk to your doctor or pharmacist. This includes any possible side effects not listed in this leaflet. You can also report side effects directly via the national reporting system at: https://www.aifa.gov.it/content/segnalazionireazioni-avverse .
