Heparan sulfate
What it is and what it is used for
CLAREMA contains the active ingredient heparan sulphate and is a medicine with antivaricose activity (against the formation of varicose veins) and vasoprotective activity (with protective action on blood vessels).
CLAREMA is used for the local treatment of:
- Phlebothrombosis (presence of blood clots inside the veins).
- Thrombophlebitis (inflammation of the veins resulting in the formation of blood clots).
- Venous ectasia (dilation of the veins) of the lower limbs.
- Skin conditions of vascular origin such as superficial periphlebitis (inflammation of the connective tissue surrounding the veins), inflammatory edema (accumulation of fluids due to inflammation), stasis dermatitis (superficial inflammation of the skin).
- Traumatic hematomas (accumulations of blood in an organ or tissue following trauma).
- Post-phlebitic pathology of the limbs (set of late clinical manifestations following a thrombotic process that has affected the deep venous system of a limb).
What you need to know before taking the medicine
Do not use CLAREMA
- If you are allergic to the active substance (heparan sulphate) or any of the other ingredients of this medicine (listed in section 6).
- If you are allergic to heparin and heparinoids (anticoagulant drugs).
- In case of bleeding, on open wounds and mucous membranes, as well as on sites of infection in case of suppurative processes (inflammations with production of pus).
Warnings and precautions
Talk to your doctor or pharmacist before using CLAREMA.
The use of CLAREMA in the presence of haemorrhagic phenomena (loss of blood from the vessels) must be carefully evaluated.
Stop treatment immediately if sensitization phenomena (abnormal reactivity to the product) occur. The use, especially if prolonged, of all products for topical (local) use can give rise to phenomena of this type (see paragraph 4 "Possible side effects").
Keep this medicine out of the sight and reach of children.
Possible side effects
Like all medicines, this medicine can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them.
Skin rashes and urticaria may occur during treatment with CLAREMA. The frequency of these effects cannot be estimated as insufficient data are available.
The use, especially if prolonged, of products for topical use, can give rise to irritation and sensitization phenomena; in this case, interrupt the treatment and institute an appropriate therapy (see "Warnings and precautions").
Reporting of side effects
