{"product_id":"farmaiod-10-soluzione-cutaneaflacone-da-100-ml","title":"FARMAIOD \"10% SKIN SOLUTION\" 100 ML BOTTLE\"","description":"\u003cb\u003eName\u003c\/b\u003e\u003cbr\u003e \u003cb\u003eFARMAIOD 10% cutaneous solution\u003c\/b\u003e\u003cbr\u003e Povidone-Iodine\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003e \u003cb\u003eWhat it is and what it is used for\u003c\/b\u003e\u003cbr\u003e FARMAIOD contains the active substance povidone-iodine which belongs to a group of medicines called antiseptics and disinfectants which reduce or stop the growth of germs.\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003e FARMAIOD is indicated for cleaning and disinfecting the skin, both intact and in the presence of small superficial wounds.\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003e FARMAIOD is indicated for disinfecting the operating field before surgical interventions.\u003cbr\u003e   \u003cbr\u003eTalk to your doctor if you do not feel better or if you feel worse after a few days.\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003e \u003cb\u003eWhat you need to know before taking the medicine\u003c\/b\u003e\u003cbr\u003e \u003cb\u003eDo not use FARMAIOD:\u003c\/b\u003e\u003cbr\u003e - if you are allergic to povidone-iodine or any of the other ingredients of this medicine (listed in section 6);\u003cbr\u003e - if the person who is to use this medicine is a child under 6 months of age (See section “Children”);\u003cbr\u003e - if you suffer from thyroid disease (thyroid disorders).\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003e Do not apply this medicine on mucous membranes, burns, deep wounds and large areas (see also section “Warnings and precautions”).\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003e FARMAIOD should not be used to disinfect the inside of the abdomen (peritoneal lavage) in case of infections (purulent peritonitis).\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003e \u003cb\u003eWarnings and precautions\u003c\/b\u003e\u003cbr\u003e Talk to your doctor or pharmacist before using FARMAIOD.\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003e This medicine should be applied to the skin only (external use).\u003cbr\u003e Avoid applying FARMAIOD to your eyes.\u003cbr\u003e   \u003cbr\u003eAlso, do not ingest or inhale it, as serious, even fatal, consequences may occur.\u003cbr\u003e High amounts of iodine in the blood can cause side effects such as:\u003cbr\u003e • increased acidic substances in the blood (metabolic acidosis);\u003cbr\u003e • reduction in the levels of white blood cells in the blood (neutropenia);\u003cbr\u003e • thyroid problems (temporary hypothyroidism or thyrotoxic crisis in case of hyperthyroidism);\u003cbr\u003e • alteration of the results of some thyroid function tests and of stool and urine tests (search for occult blood) (See also the section “Possible side effects”).\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003e Avoid using FARMAIOD on very large areas of skin or under a non-breathable (occlusive) dressing.\u003cbr\u003e If necessary, it is recommended to carry out specific thyroid tests.\u003cbr\u003e   \u003cbr\u003eDo not use FARMAIOD for prolonged periods of time because allergic reactions (sensitization phenomena) may occur. In this case, stop treatment and inform your doctor who will establish an appropriate therapy.\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003e If you need to have a thyroid test, known as a radioiodine scan, stop taking FARMAIOD at least 10 days before having this test.\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003e \u003cb\u003eChildren\u003c\/b\u003e\u003cbr\u003e In newborns, the application of iodine-based antiseptic medicines may cause thyroid problems (hypothyroidism, thyroid dysfunction) (See the paragraph “Do not use FARMAIOD”).\u003cbr\u003e In older children, this medicine should be used only when clearly needed.\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003e \u003cb\u003ePossible side effects\u003c\/b\u003e\u003cbr\u003e Like all medicines, this medicine can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them.\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003e The following side effects may occur: \u003cbr\u003e\u003cb\u003eFrequency not known (the frequency of which cannot be estimated from the available data):\u003c\/b\u003e\u003cbr\u003e - burning and skin irritation (intolerance);\u003cbr\u003e - allergic reactions (tuberous dermatitis, dermatitis);\u003cbr\u003e - iodine poisoning (iodism);\u003cbr\u003e - delayed wound healing;\u003cbr\u003e - alteration of the results of some thyroid tests.\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003e If you experience these symptoms, stop treatment.\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003e \u003cb\u003eReporting of side effects\u003c\/b\u003e\u003cbr\u003e If you get any side effects, talk to your doctor or pharmacist.
