What it is and what it is used for
HIRUDOID contains the active ingredient glycosaminoglycan polysulfate, which has anti-inflammatory and antithrombotic activity, meaning it prevents the formation of blood clots (thrombi).
HIRUDOID is used to treat:
- inflammation of a vein that is under the surface of the skin (superficial phlebitis) or a blood clot that causes inflammation of a vein (thrombophlebitis);
- inflammation caused by the dilation of a vein (varicose veins);
- the hematomas.
What you need to know before taking the medicine
Do not use HIRUDOID
- if you are allergic to the active substance, to a heparinoid (a medicine with an anticoagulant action similar to heparin) or to any of the other ingredients of this medicine (listed in section 6).
Warnings and precautions
Talk to your doctor or pharmacist before using HIRUDOID.
HIRUDOID 25,000 IU Gel Stop treatment and contact your doctor immediately if allergic reactions occur after applying the gel.
