La Moringa oleifera Lam. è una pianta appartenente alla famiglia delle Moringacee, nativa dell’India (Himalaya) e coltivata nelle aree tropicali e subtropicali del pianeta.
Questa pianta è ampiamente conosciuta per i molteplici effetti benefici, dovuti soprattutto all’elevato contenuto di nutrienti come vitamine, minerali, aminoacidi, betacarotene, antiossidanti, elementi antinfiammatori e acidi grassi.
Tradizionalmente la moringa si è guadagnata il soprannome di “albero miracoloso”, in virtù del suo elevato potenziale salutistico. È una pianta commestibile in tutte le sue parti, ma soprattutto le foglie sono impiegate per l’alimentazione umana: crude in insalata o cotte come spinaci, vengono apprezzate per il loro sapore (simile all’asparago) e per il benefico apporto alla salute; possiedono infatti un elevato valore nutrizionale per l’alta concentrazione di vitamine, minerali, aminoacidi, acidi grassi e antiossidanti.
Il FAO (Food and Agriculture Organization statunitense) sta promuovendo la conoscenza e il consumo della moringa, e dal 2018 l’ha inclusa tra i superfood, alimenti che possono concorrere a contrastare la piaga della malnutrizione nel mondo.
Molti studi hanno messo in luce le numerose proprietà della moringa, evidenziando soprattutto l’azione positiva sui livelli di colesterolo nel sangue, grazie anche alla presenza di acidi grassi insaturi.
Come è emerso dai più recenti studi, l’assunzione orale dell’estratto di moringa mostra risultati significativi sulla glicemia, rivelandosi un ottimo coadiuvante nel sovrappeso.
Modo d'uso
1 misurino raso al giorno con acqua, centrifugato di verdura o yogurt. Miscelare fino ad ottenere un composto omogeneo.
