The presence of sodium bicarbonate and sodium and calcium carbonates also reduces stomach hyperacidity. Pure Aloe vera juice, due to the natural presence of polysaccharides, protects the mucosa because, by adhering to the walls of the esophagus and stomach, it forms a protective film that protects the tissues from gastric juices or irritants. The properties of double-concentrated pure Aloe vera juice are complemented by those of sodium alginate, which, upon contact with stomach acid, reacts to form a gel. The gel, trapping the bubbles of carbon dioxide released by the carbonates contained in the formulation, settles in the upper part of the stomach, forming a barrier that mechanically prevents gastric juices from rising into the esophagus.
