Description
A sterile, highly absorbent hydrocellular dressing made of three-layer polyurethane with a silicone gel adhesive backing that's gentle on even the most sensitive skin. In the presence of exudate, the dressing helps maintain a moist wound environment, promoting healing. Allevyn Gentle absorbs and retains fluids even under compression and can promote pressure relief. The dressing is easy to apply and remove, and thanks to its flexibility and ability to conform to even complex anatomical areas (e.g., the knee), it is soft and comfortable for the patient.

Property
The dressing absorbs exudate in 2 phases:
1. Vertical: to avoid maceration of the perilesional skin.
2. Horizontal: to take advantage of the full absorbency of the tampon.
The dressing provides an effective barrier to bacterial entry, protecting the wound from invasive pathogenic microorganisms and thereby promoting faster healing.
Thanks to the properties of the external film, the dressing is impermeable to fluids.
The dressing can be cut to fit the most difficult to dress areas and can also be used under compression bandages.
The gentle silicone gel adhesive makes the dressing suitable for use even on fragile skin, furthermore the dressing can be lifted and repositioned without losing its adhesion properties.
The contact layer and gentle silicone gel adhesive minimize trauma to the wound and periwound skin and pain upon removal.
The dressing is well tolerated by the skin and minimizes the risk of irritation, and is comfortable for the patient.
The dressing has extensibility properties in both directions, promoting conformability to even complex anatomical areas and joints.
The dressing can remain in place for up to 7 days, depending on the clinical condition of the wound. The average length of time varies from 3 to 7 days depending on the type of wound treated. If the dressing is applied to the sacral area, it can be left in place for up to 5 days.
The dressing is radiolucent.
The product does not contain natural resins and gums (latex) which represent a potential allergenic factor.
The product does not contain phthalates.

Composition
Wound contact layer: perforated polyurethane film, fully coated with a silicone gel adhesive that is gentle on even the most fragile skin. It adheres softly to the periwound skin but not to the wound itself, allowing for atraumatic dressing removal without damaging the granulation tissue. The perforations allow fluids from the wound bed to pass through to the absorbent central layer.
- Middle layer: hydrophilic polyurethane foam with a hydrocellular structure and mixed cells containing polyethylene glycol particles. The structure and size of the cells ensure that all absorbed exudate (both by capillary action and cellular absorption) is retained within the foam, thus limiting the risk of leakage and the resulting risk of maceration of the periwound skin. In addition to exudate, any cellular debris and bacteria present are also absorbed and retained. The mixed size of the cells, small and medium, also produces a "cushion" effect that facilitates the release of pressure forces, the same ones that cause ulcers.
-Outer layer: colored polyurethane film (natural pigments) impermeable to liquids and bacteria, featuring high gas permeability and dynamic breathability capable of maintaining a moist environment on the wound bed and removing excess exudate by evaporation, avoiding maceration of the skin.

Conservation
Store in a dry place at temperatures below 25°C.
Shelf life in intact packaging: 24 months.
