What it is and what it is used for
This medicine is a nail polish containing the active substance ciclopirox: an antifungal agent.
OTHER ANTIFUNGAL AGENTS FOR TOPICAL USE
ROXOLAC 80 mg/g, medicated nail polish is indicated for the treatment of mild to moderate nail fungus (onychomycosis) of the hands and feet. The active ingredient ciclopirox penetrates the nail and kills the fungi.
What you need to know before taking the medicine
Do not use ROXOLAC 80 mg/g, medicated nail polish
- if you are allergic to ciclopirox or any of the other ingredients of this medicine (listed in section 6).
- if you are under 18 years of age.
Warnings and precautions
- Do not ingest.
- Avoid contact with eyes and mucous membranes until ROXOLAC 80 mg/g, medicated nail polish has dried.
- ROXOLAC 80 mg/g, medicated nail polish should be applied locally only.
- Do not apply common nail polish or any other cosmetic polish on the treated nails.
- If you experience any allergic reaction, stop treatment immediately, carefully remove the medicated nail polish with a solvent and contact your doctor.
- If you have more nails to treat or if you have diabetes or immune system disorders, contact your doctor, as you may need to add an oral treatment.
Possible side effects
Like all medicines, this medicine can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them.
Contact dermatitis (skin rashes such as eczema) and generalized allergic reactions may occur, but the frequency of this adverse effect is not known (cannot be estimated from the available data).
