VORTEX
Description
VORTEX is an inhalation aid. It is used in conjunction with medicinal sprays or aerosol dispensers for the treatment of the lower respiratory tract.
VORTEX is designed for the treatment of patients of all age groups (a suitable mask is required for the treatment of newborns and small children).
VORTEX must be used only by persons who understand the contents of the instructions for use and who are able to use VORTEX safely.
The following groups of people must be supervised by a person responsible for their safety during use:
– newborns and children of all ages;
– people with limited abilities (for example, physical, mental or sensory).
If the patient is unable to use VORTEX safely independently, therapy must be performed by the responsible person.
Use only aerosol dispensers approved for inhalation therapy.
VORTEX can be used in both home and professional healthcare settings. In home settings, VORTEX can only be used for a single patient (no patient changes). In professional settings, patient changes can be made, provided the appropriate hygiene preparation measures are observed.
VORTEX is suitable only for patients who are able to breathe independently and are conscious.
The frequency and duration of use will be determined by specialized healthcare personnel based on the patient's personal needs.
VORTEX helps the patient to inspire the medicine from an aerosol dispenser evenly and completely.
The medication is sprayed into the inhalation chamber, where it is evenly distributed and can be administered to the patient in one or more inhalation and exhalation cycles. This eliminates the need to coordinate actuation and inhalation, which is a critical time factor. Furthermore, it prevents excessive medication from depositing in the mouth and throat, thus preventing the associated side effects.
The flexible connection ring allows it to be used with all commercially available aerosol dispensers.
The VORTEX ladybug mask for children, the VORTEX frog mask for children and the PARI soft mask for adults allow the aerosol to be inhaled through the mouth and nose.
The mask connection serves as a connecting element between the PARI adult soft mask and the VORTEX.
The one-handed operation accessory is an optional feature that makes using the VORTEX easier. The one-handed operation accessory allows you to hold the VORTEX with one hand while simultaneously operating the aerosol dispenser.
MASKS
VORTEX masks are an accessory for therapy with a PARI inhalation aid. They allow aerosols to be inhaled through the mouth and nose.
The PARI soft mask for adults is an accessory for inhalation therapy. It allows aerosols to be inhaled through the mouth and nose.
The different mask sizes are suitable for treating patients in the following age groups:
- VORTEX ladybug mask for children: babies from 0 to 2 years;
- VORTEX children's frog mask: children aged 2 to 4;
- soft mask for adults EQUAL: adults.
The type of mask depends on the size and shape of the face. Age data is purely indicative.
Hygienic preparation
- Use only clean, dry product components. Impurities and residual moisture promote the growth of germs and bacteria, thus increasing the risk of infection.
- Wash your hands thoroughly before each use and before carrying out hygiene preparation.
- Carry out hygienic preparation even before first use.
- Always use potable water for toilet preparation.
- After each hygiene preparation, make sure that each component is completely dry.
- Product components should not be stored in humid environments or together with damp objects.
How to use
Functionality check
After receiving VORTEX, check that the valve in the mouthpiece is not blocked:
- Let drinking water flow through the mouthpiece from the top. The water should flow out of the side openings in the mouthpiece;
- Let drinking water flow through the mouthpiece from the bottom. The water should flow out of the lip extension;
- dry VORTEX completely before first use.
If the valve is blocked, do not use VORTEX.
Preparation of therapy
Before each use, check the correct position of the valve in the mouthpiece:
- check that the valve in the mouthpiece is in the correct position:
- if necessary, correct its position with the help of a jet of water.
Damaged components, as well as an incorrectly assembled inhalation aid, may impair the function of the inhalation aid and, consequently, compromise therapy. Also, follow the assembly instructions provided:
- Check all product components and accessories before each use. Replace any broken, deformed, or severely discolored components.
- insert the mouthpiece into the inhalation chamber.
Use with the one-handed operation accessory:
- remove the aerosol dispenser cover;
- shake the aerosol dispenser vigorously before each use;
- insert the aerosol dispenser into the connecting ring on the inhalation chamber.
Use with the one-handed operation accessory:
- slide the one-handed accessory onto the inhalation chamber from behind;
- remove the lid from the aerosol dispenser;
- shake the aerosol dispenser vigorously before each use;
- insert the aerosol dispenser into the connecting ring on the inhalation chamber;
- position the one-handed accessory so that its round end surrounds the aerosol dispenser.
If necessary, slide the accessory forward or backward for one-handed use.
Since aerosol dispensers are not standardized in terms of shape and size, in some cases it may not be possible to operate the aerosol dispenser with the one-handed accessory. In this case, the one-handed accessory cannot be used. Check before first use.
Inserting the mask (mask/child mask)
Remove the protective cover from the VORTEX mouthpiece.
Insert the mask onto the VORTEX mouthpiece.
Inserting the mask (adult mask)
Remove the protective cover from the VORTEX mouthpiece.
Insert the mask connection into the opening of the PARI adult soft mask.
Insert the mask with its connection onto the VORTEX mouthpiece.
Carrying out the therapy
Unless otherwise directed by your doctor, to take the medicine from the VORTEX you need the following cycles of inspiration and expiration:
- for adults one cycle is sufficient;
- for children over 18 months, two to four cycles are required;
- for children under 18 months, four to six cycles are needed.
During exhalation the side valves should open visibly.
Inhalation with the mouthpiece
- Remove the protective cover from the VORTEX mouthpiece.
- Grasp the mouthpiece with your teeth and surround it with your lips.
- Begin to inhale slowly and deeply through your mouth. While inhaling, press the aerosol dispenser to release a spray.
- Hold your breath briefly, then exhale slowly into the mouthpiece.
Inhalation with aerosol dispersion mask
Place VORTEX with the mask on your face.
Observe the child's respiratory flow.
Before your child takes a deep breath the next time, press the aerosol dispenser so that a spray is released.
Unless otherwise indicated by your doctor:
- inhalation with the VORTEX ladybug mask for children: inhale and exhale through the mask four to six times;
- inhalation with VORTEX children's frog mask: inhale and exhale through the mask two to four times.
Have the child exhale again through the mask.
Inhalation with mask for adults
Place VORTEX with the mask on your face.
Begin to inhale slowly and deeply through your mouth.
While inhaling, press the aerosol dispenser to release a spray.
Hold your breath briefly, then slowly exhale through the mask.
Unless otherwise prescribed by your doctor, one inhalation is sufficient to expel the medicine from the VORTEX.
Using the one-handed accessory
The one-handed operation accessory is used to simplify the operation of the aerosol dispenser:
- grasp the VORTEX device with one hand so that your fingers rest relaxed on the one-handed accessory;
- to release a spray, press down on the one-handed accessory;
- loosen the grip again.
Cleaning
- Remove the aerosol dispenser from the inhalation chamber connection ring and close it with its protective cap.
- Disassemble VORTEX into its individual product components.
The protective cover must be open.
First cleaning
All individual components must be subjected to preliminary cleaning.
EQUIPMENT: Drinking water at a temperature of approximately 15°C.
DIRECTIONS: Rinse all individual components used under running drinking water for 2 minutes.
Manual cleaning
Pour about a teaspoon of dish soap into 3 litres of hot drinking water (40°C).
Immerse the individual components in the washing water (5 minutes).
Move the components back and forth every now and then.
In case of visible dirt, use a medium-soft brush (e.g. a toothbrush), intended solely for this purpose.
RINSING: Rinse all components thoroughly under running drinking water at a temperature of approximately 15°C for 3 minutes.
DRYING: Shake all components to remove excess water. Place all individual components on a dry, clean, absorbent surface and let them dry completely.
IN THE DISHWASHER
The components can be washed in a household dishwasher, provided that the dishwasher is connected to tap water of drinking quality.
For safe use of the detergent used, follow the relevant instructions for use, in particular the safety precautions included in the instructions.
Do not clean the components together with particularly dirty dishes.
- Place all items in the dishwasher basket so that water cannot collect there.
- Choose a program with a minimum temperature of 50°C:
DRYING
Make sure there is no residual moisture in the components; if necessary, shake all components to remove excess water. Place all individual components on a dry, clean, and absorbent surface and let them dry completely.
DISINFECTION
Disinfect all components immediately after cleaning. Only cleaned components can be effectively disinfected.
To disinfect in boiling water, remove the mouthpiece from the inhalation chamber. Use enough water to prevent the mouthpiece from coming into contact with the inhalation chamber. The inhalation chamber becomes very hot and could deform the mouthpiece.
Immerse all components in plenty of boiling water for at least 5 minutes.
Warnings
Use this PARI product only as described in these instructions for use.
It is also necessary to follow the instructions for use of the aerosol dispenser.
Therapy for newborns, children and people with particular difficulties
There is a greater risk of injury for people who are unable to perform therapy independently or assess the risks. This includes infants, children, and individuals with limited abilities. For these patients, use must be supervised or performed by a person responsible for their safety.
If treatment does not lead to improvement or if your health condition worsens, consult a specialized healthcare professional.
This product contains small parts. Small parts, if swallowed, could block the airway and pose a choking hazard. Be sure to keep all product components out of the reach of infants and small children.
The VORTEX inhalation chamber is not completely sealed. Therefore, there is a risk that small particles could fall inside and be inhaled during inhalation.
Therefore, before each use, make sure that there are no foreign bodies inside the VORTEX.
Danger of underdosing: If the amount of medicine delivered is too small, the effectiveness of the therapy may be compromised.
When using the adult mask, make sure the exhalation valve blade is pressed outward.
Before proceeding with the therapy, make sure that all the components of the product are securely connected to each other so that the medicine cannot leak.
If the mask does not fit properly, aerosol dispersion may occur. This may result in an underdosage of the medication.
Make sure the mask completely covers both corners of your mouth and your nose.
Check that no possible side effects occur due to the aerosol leakage.
Moisture encourages the growth of germs and bacteria. After disinfecting, immediately remove all parts from the cookware and let them dry.
Conservation
After complete drying, insert the mouthpiece into the inhalation chamber.
Apply the protective cover to the mouthpiece.
Store the product and any accessories in a dry, dust-free place.
