What is it and what is it for?
• Schollmed Onychomycosis is used to treat fungal infections involving no more than two nails and affecting the upper or lateral half of the nail (as shown in the first photo below). If your infection looks more like picture 2 or 3, you should consult your doctor.
• The active substance of Schollmed Onychomycosis is amorolfine (as hydrochloride) which belongs to a group of medicines known as antifungals.
• Schollmed Onychomycosis kills a wide variety of fungi that can cause nail infections. A nail affected by a fungal infection is likely to be discolored (white, yellow, or brown), pitted, or brittle, although its appearance can vary greatly.
What you need to know before taking the medicine
Do not use Schollmed Onychomycosis:
• if you are allergic (hypersensitive) to the active substance (amorolfine) or to any of the other ingredients of Schollmed Onychomycosis (listed in section 6);
• if you are under 18 years of age.
Warnings and precautions
This medicine may cause allergic reactions, some of which can be serious. If this occurs, discontinue use, remove the product immediately with nail polish remover or cleansing pads, and consult your doctor. The product should not be reapplied.
You should get urgent medical attention if you experience any of the following symptoms:
• has difficulty breathing;
• your face, lips, tongue, or throat swells;
• the skin develops a severe rash.
Talk to your doctor or pharmacist before using Amorolfine:
• if you suffer from diabetes;
• if you are being treated for immune system disorders;
• if you suffer from circulatory problems in your hands and feet;
• if the nail is severely damaged or infected.
If Schollmed Onychomycosis comes into contact with your eyes or ears, rinse immediately with water and contact your doctor, pharmacist or nearest hospital.
Avoid contact with mucous membranes (e.g., mouth and nostrils). Do not inhale.
Wear waterproof gloves when using organic solvents, so as not to remove nail polish.
This medicine contains 55.4% w/w alcohol (ethanol).
May cause burning sensation on damaged skin.
Possible side effects
Like all medicines, Schollmed Onychomycosis can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them.
Rare side effects (may affect up to 1 in 1,000 people)
Your nails may become discolored, break, or brittle.
Very rare side effects (may affect up to 1 in 10,000 people)
You may experience a burning sensation in the area around the nail.
Frequency not known (frequency cannot be estimated from the available data)
Redness, itching, hives, blisters and allergic skin reaction (contact dermatitis).
