Name
FENAZIL 2% cream
Promethazine hydrochloride
What it is and what it is used for
FENAZIL 2% cream is an antihistamine for topical use.
It serves as an anti-allergic, to relieve localized burning and itching.
FENAZIL 2% cream is used in the case of insect bites and other localized skin irritations, such as redness, burning and itching.
What you need to know before taking the medicine
Hypersensitivity to the active substance or to any of the excipients. In case of eczema or secreting lesions. It is advisable to consult a doctor even in cases where such disorders have occurred in the past. Contraindicated in children under 2 years of age.
Warnings and precautions
The product is for external use only. Use only on intact skin.
Prolonged and inappropriate use of the product may give rise to allergic sensitization phenomena, with consequent worsening of the symptoms. If this occurs, it is necessary to suspend the treatment and consult the doctor, in order to establish an appropriate therapy.
Since the application of FENAZIL 2% cream can delay the healing process, it should not be used for more than 3 - 4 consecutive days on lesions in which this phenomenon is in progress. Apply the cream with caution and in a thin layer when the skin presents very extensive abrasions, to avoid systemic absorption of the product.
In case of sunburn, do not expose the area to the sun after application.
If skin rashes, irritation or burning sensations appear, treatment should be discontinued.
Do not use for prolonged treatments. After a short period of treatment without appreciable results, consult your doctor.
Possible side effects
Like all medicines, Fenazil 2% cream can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them.
Topical application of Promethazine may, in some cases, induce skin sensitization up to forms of photosensitization.
Applying too much cream to very large areas of skin may cause absorption of the drug and cause drowsiness in particularly sensitive patients.
In some cases, local intolerance (burning or irritation) may occur, but this does not have any consequences. In this case, wash the affected area thoroughly with water and discontinue treatment.
Following the instructions in the package leaflet reduces the risk of side effects.
If any of the side effects gets serious, or if you notice any side effects not listed in this leaflet, please tell your doctor or pharmacist.
