What it is and what it is used for
Flectorartro 1% gel is indicated for the local symptomatic relief of pain and inflammatory conditions caused by post-traumatic injuries, such as bruises, sprains and tendonitis.


What you need to know before taking the medicine
Do not use Flectorartro 1% gel if:
- are allergic to diclofenac, acetylsalicylic acid (aspirin), or any other nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID);
- are allergic to any of the other ingredients of Flectorartro 1% gel (listed in section 6);
- have asthma attacks, breathing problems, hives or acute rhinitis (cold) after taking acetylsalicylic acid (aspirin) or other NSAIDs;
- has skin lesions, including weeping or infected areas, eczema, burns or wounds;
- from the third trimester of pregnancy (see Pregnancy and breastfeeding);
- is a child or adolescent under 15 years of age;
- one of the above cases applies to you, contact your doctor or pharmacist;
- are allergic to peanuts or soya, as this medicine contains soya oil.


Warnings and precautions
Use special caution with Flectorartro 1% gel if:
- suffers from cardiovascular diseases;
- suffers from kidney disease;
- suffers from liver disease;
- you suffer or have suffered in the past from gastric ulcer (peptic ulcer);
- suffer from an inflammatory bowel disease such as Crohn's disease or ulcerative colitis or are prone to intestinal bleeding;
- is regularly exposed to sunlight or artificial UV rays;

Do not apply Flectorartro on large areas or on damaged, diseased or irritated skin areas or on open wounds.
Flectorartro should not come into contact with the eyes or the moist membranes that line the inside of certain parts of the body, for example the mouth, nasal passages (mucous membranes), and should never be taken by mouth. Stop treatment if you develop a rash after applying the product.
The use of gloves is recommended for the physiotherapist.


Possible side effects
Like all medicines, Flectorartro 1% gel can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them.
Common side effects (affect 1 to 10 patients in 100):
- skin rash, eczema, erythema (skin redness), dermatitis (allergic and contact), itching;
Rare side effects (affect 1 to 10 patients in 10,000):
- bullous dermatitis (with blister formation);
Very rare side effects (affect less than 1 in 10,000 patients) - hypersensitivity (including urticaria), angioneurotic oedema;
- pustular eruption;
- asthma;
- photosensitivity (reaction after exposure to sunlight or artificial UV rays);
Frequency not known: ;
- anaphylactic reaction;

Since Flectorartro 1% gel is applied to the skin of the affected area, there is a lower risk of side effects, such as gastric problems, including pain, indigestion or signs of bleeding in the stomach or intestines, which may occur when taking oral diclofenac. However, if Flectorartro 1% gel is not used correctly, these side effects may occur.
