An inappropriate movement or an accidental fall can be a frequent cause of trauma, sprains, and bruises: the impact can in fact cause, by compressing the parts underneath the affected one, damage to both blood and lymphatic vessels. The inevitable consequence is bruises and hematomas caused by the leakage of blood and the passage of liquids from the vessels into the surrounding tissues.

In the most traumatic cases, edema may appear, evidenced by the soft and pale appearance of the skin that initially appears cold and shiny, then increasingly swollen, painful and hard to the touch. Traumas, contusions and hematomas generally undergo spontaneous reabsorption but for a truly effective intervention it is necessary to promote the processes of repair of the damage to the vessels, at the same time stimulating the lymphatic system to drain the accumulated fluids. Functional for this purpose are various active ingredients of natural origin that, especially for local application and used promptly, can promote a faster recovery, reducing both the pain and the inflammatory process that accompanies the formation of the hematoma. Among the most used active ingredients are those of Arnica, the escin of Horse Chestnut and the bromelain of Pineapple. Generally speaking, it can be said that the more superficial the impact of the trauma, the more effective a topical product (cream, ointment, gel) will be, but, depending on the case, it may be useful to use some of the aforementioned natural remedies orally as well, combining both methods of use aiming for a synergistic action.
