Pic Safe Gluco Monitor
Description
Glucometer for measuring blood glucose.
The glucose in the blood sample mixes with the reagent in the strip and generates a low electrical current. The level of electrical current generated depends on the glucose concentration in the blood.
The Pic Safe Gluco Monitor measures the generated current and converts it into a blood glucose concentration value. This is displayed on the meter's LCD display.
The 8-electrode strip ensures high accuracy and precision.
Technical specifications
How to use
To obtain accurate results, allow the meter to acclimate to the environment in which it will be used. The operating temperature must be between 5°C and 45°C.
If the ambient temperature is below or above the meter's operating range, a thermometer icon appears on the display. Move the meter to an environment between 5-45°C (41-113°F), wait 30 minutes, and then perform the test. Do not artificially heat or cool the meter.
Remove a new strip from the container and close it tightly. Insert the strip into the dedicated port; the meter will turn on automatically. When the strip and blood drop symbol appear, the meter is ready to take a test.
Bring your finger with the drop of blood close to the strip until the blue window is completely filled with blood. The blood is automatically drawn into the strip.
If the beep has been set, the meter will alert you that the test has begun. After blood is applied to the strip, a countdown from 5 to 1 begins and appears on the display. After the 5 seconds are up, the result appears on the screen in mg/dL or mmol/L.
To obtain accurate results, do not allow more than 20 seconds to elapse between collecting the blood sample and measuring the blood glucose level. The blood sample must be at least 0.5 mcL. The meter stores the date and time of the measurement.
If your test result is less than 70 mg/dL or if LO appears, it could indicate hypoglycemia. This situation requires immediate medical attention. Although the result could be due to an unlikely error, it is best to intervene immediately and repeat the measurement later.
If your result is above 180 mg/dL or the word HI appears, this could indicate hyperglycemia. If you have no symptoms, repeat the test first. If you continue to get the same results or have symptoms, consult your doctor about appropriate action.
Cleaning the glucometer
Avoid dust.
If you need to clean your blood glucose meter, carefully follow these instructions. Avoid getting blood, moisture, dirt, or dust into the test strip port to prevent the meter from malfunctioning.
To clean the meter, use a damp, lint-free cloth. Wring out the cloth thoroughly before use. Do not use an abrasive cloth or antiseptic solution, as they may damage the screen.
Conservation
Keep your glucometer, strips, and control solution together with their respective manuals.
Store strips at room temperature between 2°C and 30°C. Do not refrigerate or freeze. Freezing and thawing may cause inaccurate blood glucose results.
Keep the strip insertion port free from dust.
Avoid exposing the strips to moisture and direct sunlight, and store them in a cool, dry place. After removing the strip, tightly close the container. The strip container maintains the correct humidity. Therefore, do not transfer the strips to containers other than those provided.
Keep Pic Safe Glucocontrol control solution at a temperature between 2°C and 30°C.
