IODOSORB
CE medical device. Antiseptic dressing based on cadexomer technology: absorbs exudates and releases iodine in a controlled manner.Indicated for the local treatment of chronic, exuding wounds. How to use
Application
Wash your hands thoroughly before and after application. After donning gloves, clean the wound and surrounding area with a gentle stream of water or saline solution. Do not dry the wound surface. Remove the impregnated gauze from both sides of the single-dose paste or open the packaging (pouch or aluminum tube). Conform the dressing to the wound surface. Completely cover the wound with an appropriate secondary dressing. Apply a compression bandage, if indicated.
Change
IODOSORB should be changed when it is saturated with exudate and has released all the iodine. This is indicated by discoloration, usually two or three times a week. If the wound is heavily exuding, it may be necessary to change the dressing daily. If necessary, soak any excess fluid for a few minutes before removing it. Gently remove IODOSORB using a stream of water or saline solution. Before reapplying IODOSORB, gently absorb any excess fluid, leaving the wound surface slightly moist.
Warnings
There is a potential risk of interaction with lithium, resulting in an increased likelihood of hypothyroidism. Do not use IODOSORB concomitantly with mercurial antiseptics or taurolidine. Consider possible interference with thyroid function tests when undergoing thyroid diagnostic tests.
Contraindications
IODOSORB should not be used on dry necrosis, nor in patients with known hypersensitivity to iodine or any of its components. Do not use IODOSORB in children, during pregnancy or breastfeeding, or in people with thyroid or renal dysfunction (e.g., Hashimoto's thyroiditis or nontoxic nodular goiter).
Precautions for use
The contents of the single pack are for single patient use only. Do not use IODOSORB near the eyes, ears, nose, or mouth. The product is for external use only. In the first hour after application, IODOSORB may cause mild, transient pain. This indicates that the product is beginning to cleanse the wound. IODOSORB may occasionally cause swelling or redness of the periwound skin. This effect is usually temporary. Contact of the product with the periwound skin or with intact skin should be minimized. If IODOSORB is allowed to dry, an adherent crust may form.
