Biatain Adhesive
Description
Adhesive foam dressing, with enhanced adhesion.
The product is a sterile, disposable polyurethane foam dressing with a hydrocolloid adhesive border.
The product is indicated for wound healing in a moist environment and for the management of exudate.
The product is intended for use by healthcare professionals or by patients under the supervision of healthcare professionals.
It is indicated for a wide range of wounds, from low to high exuding. This includes acute wounds such as second-degree burns, donor sites, post-operative wounds, and traumatic wounds, as well as chronic wounds such as leg ulcers and pressure ulcers.
It can be used on patients being treated for a local or systemic infection, at the healthcare provider's discretion. It can be used throughout the healing process to provide protection for the indicated wound types. It can be left in place for up to 7 days depending on the amount of exudate, the condition of the dressing, and the type of wound. It is suitable for use in combination with compression therapy. It can be used in conjunction with Purilon gel for effective autolytic debridement of necrotic tissue. It can be left in place during showering. It is suitable for use on patients who require increased adhesion to hold the dressing in place.
The product is composed of:
-a top film that promotes breathability, but is impermeable to water and bacteria;
-a hydrocolloid adhesive;
-an absorbent pad made of polyurethane foam;
-protective films.
Sterilized by irradiation (R).
How to use
Preparation:
Cleanse the wound and surrounding skin according to local guidelines, such as saline. Gently dry the surrounding skin. If using barrier films, creams, ointments, or similar products, allow the surrounding skin to dry before applying the product.
Application:
Choose a product whose foam pad extends at least 1-2 cm beyond the wound edge. Remove the product from the packaging. Ensure aseptic handling during application. Use protective films to avoid touching the unprinted side of the foam and adhesive. Partially remove the protective films. Apply the foam dressing with the unprinted side facing the wound. Gently remove your fingers from the edge of the product to ensure it adheres evenly and evenly to the skin.
Removal:
The product should be replaced when clinically indicated, when visible traces of exudate approach the edge of the foam pad, or after 7 days. Loosen the adhesive edge, gently lift it, and then remove the wound dressing. If the dressing is difficult to remove, moisten it with saline solution until it comes off easily.
Disposal:
The product is for single use only and must be disposed of according to local guidelines, for example in household waste.
Warnings
Infected lesions and lesions entirely or partially caused by arterial insufficiency should be examined frequently and managed by a healthcare professional according to local guidelines.
To avoid possible allergic reactions, the product should not be used on patients with known sensitivity to carboxymethylcellulose (CMC).
Do not use the product with oxidizing solutions, such as hypochlorite or hydrogen peroxide, as this may cause the product to degrade, worsening the injury. Ensure any other evaporating solutions used have completely dried before applying the product.
The use of the product in combination with detergents other than saline solution has not been tested.
The product is single use only, do not reuse due to the risk of cross-contamination which could potentially cause infection.
Recycling, washing, disinfection and/or resterilization may compromise the characteristics of the product, causing a further risk of harm or infection to the user.
Do not use if the package is damaged, as the sterility of the product may be compromised and potentially cause infection.
Possible side effects associated with the use of dressings may include: skin irritation/inflammation, allergic skin reaction, maceration, pain, excessive granulation tissue formation and blistering.
If a serious incident occurs during or as a result of using this product, please report it to the manufacturer and the relevant national authority.
Do not flush down the toilet.
