Description
Absorbent polyurethane foam dressing with a border for the sacral area. Mepilex Border Sacrum can help prevent pressure ulcers in the sacral region, used in addition to standard prevention protocols. It is suitable for the management of a wide range of low- to high-exuding wounds, such as:
-pressure ulcers;
-traumatic wounds (e.g. skin lacerations and wounds that heal by secondary intention).
The particular and unique 5-layer structure of Mepilex Border Sacrum allows the forces responsible for the formation of pressure sores, namely friction, shear, and pressure, to be redistributed and dissipated thanks to the ability of the various layers to slide over each other and deform.
The action of Mepilex Border Sacrum determines the control of exudates and the maintenance of the ideal moist environment for wound healing:
-absorbs exudates vertically.
-thanks to the Safeatc technology contact layer, it minimizes removal trauma, protects the periwound skin, thus preventing maceration.
-can also be used in combination with gel.
-can be kept in situ during hyperbaric oxygen therapy.

Composition
1) External polyurethane film permeable to water vapor and impermeable to liquids and bacteria.
2) Absorbent pad made of open-cell polyurethane foam with vertical absorption.
3)Non-woven fabric layer.
4)Superabsorbent polyacrylate fibers.
5) Soft silicone wound contact layer (Safetac Technology).

How to use
Clean the area to be protected or the wound, depending on whether it is used for prevention or treatment. Allow the skin to dry. Open the package and remove the protective paper. Correct removal of the paper allows for sterile application. Apply the "Safetac" side of the dressing to the wound. Do not stretch the dressing. During treatment: For best results, the Mepilex Border Sacrum absorbent pad should cover the wound and leave a margin of approximately 2 cm beyond the wound. If additional protection is needed, secure only the edges of the dressing. When removing, gently lift one side and slowly remove the dressing.

Warnings
For external use.
In case of infected wounds, use under medical supervision is recommended.
If you experience sensitization of the treated area or clinical signs of infection, consult your healthcare professional.
Do not use Mepilex Border Sacrum together with oxidising agents such as hypochlorite solutions or hydrogen peroxide.
Do not use in patients sensitive to the components. The product is generally well tolerated. No interactions with other substances have been observed.

Conservation
Store at room temperature away from extremes of humidity, dust, pollutants, etc.
Shelf life when packaging is intact: 3 years.
