What it is and what it is used for
Micomicen contains the active substance ciclopiroxolamine which belongs to a group of medicines called antifungals, active against the growth of fungi.
Micomicen is used to treat infections on the surface of the vagina caused by a fungus called Candida.
Talk to your doctor if you do not feel better or if you feel worse.
What you need to know before taking the medicine
Do not use Micomicen
if you are allergic to ciclopirox olamine or any of the other ingredients of this medicine (listed in section 6).
Warnings and precautions
Talk to your doctor or pharmacist before taking Micomicen.
In vaginal mycosis, reinfection by the partner is possible (ping-pong effect). It is therefore advisable to treat the partner at the same time with Micomicen 1% cream.
It is also recommended to abstain from sexual intercourse for the entire duration of therapy.
Repeated use of the product may cause allergy. In this case, it is necessary to stop treatment and contact your doctor.
Possible side effects
Like all medicines, this medicine can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them.
The following side effects may occur rarely:
-in the first few days of treatment, a slight burning sensation may occur;
Furthermore, when taking the medicine, the following side effects may occur with an unknown frequency (the frequency cannot be estimated from the available data): erythema, encrustations, itching, skin rash, eczema and allergic dermatitis, even beyond the application site.
Reporting of side effects
If you get any side effects, talk to your doctor or pharmacist. This includes any possible side effects not listed in this leaflet. You can also report side effects directly via the national reporting system at: https://www.aifa.gov.it/content/segnalazionireazioni-avverse .
