NORUXOL Ointment

What it is and what it is used for
Noruxol ointment contains collagenase N, consisting of Clostridiopeptidase A (collagenase enzyme) and associated proteases. These enzymes are used for the treatment of wounds because they are able to remove (cleanse) dry and wet crusts or eschar (necrotic, fibrinous tissue) normally present on wounds, leg ulcers, pressure ulcers, diabetic ulcers, burns.
By removing crusts and scabs, Noruxol accelerates scarring and the healing process.
Talk to your doctor if you do not feel better or if you feel worse after 14 days.
What you need to know before taking the medicine
Do not use Noruxol
• if you are allergic to clostridiopeptidase, protease, proteolytic enzymes or any of the other ingredients of this medicine (listed in section 6)
Warnings and precautions
Talk to your doctor or pharmacist before using Noruxol if:
• she was told that there is infection in the wound
• you are diabetic and have been told that you have a dry wound or gangrene; in this case moisten the wound before applying Noruxol, taking care not to make it excessively wet
• has a serious burn; in this case you must use Noruxol on the advice and under the supervision of a specialist doctor.
The use, especially if prolonged, of products for cutaneous use (on the skin), can cause sensitization phenomena; in this case, stop the treatment and consult your doctor or pharmacist.
Avoid contact with eyes and mucous membranes. Do not swallow.
Possible side effects
Like all medicines, this medicine can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them.
With the use of Noruxol you may experience the following side effects:
• local pain on the wound
• local skin reactions such as itching, burning, erythema
In case of severe reactions, discontinuation of therapy should be considered.
Reporting of side effects
If you get any side effects, talk to your doctor or pharmacist. This includes any possible side effects not listed in this leaflet. You can also report side effects directly via the national reporting system at: https://www.aifa.gov.it/content/segnalazionireazioni-avverse .
