Description
Hypotonic solution intended for instillation on the ocular surface or contact lenses, particularly in the presence of dry eye symptoms.
Thanks to its high sodium hyaluronate content (0.4%) and the presence of salts such as magnesium and potassium, Oftaial Plus moistens and lubricates the ocular surface and reduces the risk of tear film instability. Furthermore, the unique composition of Oftaial Plus consists of taurine, the physiologically most abundant amino acid in tear fluid and in general in all tissues of the anterior segment of the eye. Several studies demonstrate that the presence of taurine increases the percentage of cells that survive in conditions of hyperosmolarity. Hyperosmolarity in the tear film is associated with the onset of dry eye symptoms.
Therefore, Oftaial Plus, although not having a pharmacological effect, protects the corneal epithelium from possible damage caused by particular conditions that can lead to the onset of so-called "dry eye", such as:
- adverse climatic and environmental conditions such as wind, cold, sun, saltiness, air conditioning, smoke, smog or fine dust;
- particular conditions of ophthalmic stress due to the use of contact lenses or prolonged work at video terminals or microscopes.
The lubricating action is also useful when, in particular physical conditions or following the taking of certain drugs, tearing is reduced, such as during menopause and during diabetes treatment.
Furthermore, for contact lens wearers, Oftaial Plus allows you to lubricate and hydrate the lens itself to facilitate its application or removal, contributing to a feeling of comfort throughout the day.

How to use
Oftaial Plus should be dosed individually based on your condition and the recommendations of your eye doctor. In general, instill 1-2 drops of the solution into the conjunctival sac of each eye as needed, even several times a day.
For use on contact lenses: instill one drop on each lens at the time of insertion or removal. Repeat if necessary, even several times a day.
Detach a single vial from the strip.
To open the bottle, remove the top flap by twisting it, taking care to place it on a clean surface so that it can be reused to close the bottle again.
Instill 1-2 drops of Oftaial Plus into the conjunctival sac of each eye, letting them fall from above.
Close the bottle by inserting the flap immediately after use.
For use on contact lenses: instill one drop of Oftaial Plus into the cavity of each lens at the time of application or removal.

Warnings
Do not use in case of hypersensitivity to the components or other closely related chemical substances.
Oftaial Plus is for external use only.
Oftaial Plus should not be used immediately before administering medicinal products for therapeutic purposes, and within ten minutes after applying any topical pharmacological therapy.
To reduce the risk of contamination during use, it is advisable to open the aluminum pouch only if the product is to be used immediately thereafter.
Each vial is for use by one person only.
Avoid allowing the tip of the vial to come into direct contact with your fingers, eye, contact lens, or any other surface.
Also, avoid allowing the tip of the vial to come into contact with dirt or dust.
In rare cases, slight blurring of vision has been observed upon instillation, due to the solution's density. This sensation, however, disappears very quickly.
In rare cases, intolerance (a burning sensation and/or irritation) may occur, but this is harmless and does not require treatment modification. However, it is recommended to contact your eye doctor if symptoms persist.
Following the instructions in the package leaflet reduces the risk of side effects.
Do not use the solution after the expiry date indicated on the package.

Conservation
Oftaial Plus must be stored at a temperature between 2°C and 25°C.
Shelf life in intact packaging: 24 months.
