Coconut oil
Description
Food supplement based on coconut oil and vitamin E. Coconut oil has a supporting and restorative action and promotes skin trophism. Vitamin E helps protect cells from oxidative stress. It is obtained by simple cold pressing of coconut pulp, without the use of solvents. It is preservative-free, GMO-free and non-irradiated. At room temperature it has the consistency of butter and melts at about 24-26 degrees.
It is an oil that contains lauric acid, myristic acid, caprylic acid, caprinic acid, oleic acid, palmitic acid, stearic acid, and linoleic acid and is very rich in polyphenols including gallic acid, ferulic acid, quercetin, and methyl catechin. These fatty acids represent a highly available source of energy, since they are medium-chain and are easier to absorb than long-chain animal-type fatty acids.
Property
Coconut oil does not negatively affect cholesterol levels, precisely because it is low in long-chain saturated fatty acids, but it has even been shown to help lower bad LDL cholesterol levels and promote good HDL cholesterol, reducing cardiovascular risk. It improves the antioxidant status of the liver and kidneys by modulating the values of creatinine, sodium, potassium, alanine aminotransferase, aspartate aminotransferase and alkaline phosphatase. It also has a certain thermogenic effect, since its fatty acids are easily converted into energy rather than being stored as fat. It also has a positive effect on the microbiome by increasing the amount of Lactobacilli and Bifidobacteria and has an anti-inflammatory, analgesic and antipyretic action.
Medium chain fatty acids are easily metabolized by the liver and converted into ketones which serve as an important source of energy for the brain. In particular, this oil has been shown to improve cognitive function in cases of Alzheimer's. It has also been shown to reduce stress.
Its fatty acids are also important for the immune system. Lauric acid is useful in fighting viruses such as HIV, influenza and herpes; capric acid reacts with some enzymes secreted by other bacteria, which subsequently convert it into a powerful antimicrobial agent, monocaprino; caprylic acid is a powerful antifungal against candida.
It is also widely used in cosmetics for its strong nourishing and sebum-restoring properties, especially indicated for sensitive and dehydrated skin.
