What it is and what it is used for
PAF is used in the treatment of parasitic dermatoses and in particular in those caused by Sarcoptes scabiei ( S. hominis ).
What you need to know before taking the medicine
Hypersensitivity to the active substance or to any of the excipients. It is advisable to consult your doctor if such disorders have already occurred.
Pregnancy and breastfeeding
In pregnant and breastfeeding women, the product should be used only in case of absolute necessity and under the direct supervision of a doctor.
Warnings and precautions
The use of the product, especially if prolonged, may give rise to sensitization phenomena (irritative or possibly allergic reaction); if this occurs, discontinue treatment and consult your doctor.
The detection of a parasitic infestation in one member of a family or community may raise suspicion of infestation in other members; in such conditions, treatment of all members of the group may be indicated.
PAF must be diluted in glass containers; avoid contact with plastic materials (container or spoon for stirring the solution).
PAF can be applied to the entire body except the head.
PAF should not be ingested or injected.
PAF is well tolerated even by children's delicate skin.
It allows treatment even without bathing as the preparation works equally and leaves no traces on the skin and/or clothing.
Patients should carefully change their underwear, bed linen and clothes worn in the days preceding treatment, to avoid new infestations.
Possible side effects
Like all medicines, PAF can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them.
The following side effects have been reported following the use of PAF: burning and redness of the skin, itching, dermatitis.
These side effects are usually transitory. However, when they occur, it is advisable to consult your doctor or pharmacist.
If you notice any side effects not listed in this leaflet, please tell your doctor or pharmacist.
Request and complete the side effect reporting form available at the pharmacy.
