What it is and what it is used for
Rinofrenal is an antiallergic drug.
Rinofrenal is indicated for the treatment of the symptoms of the acute phase of seasonal and perennial allergic rhinitis.
What you need to know before taking the medicine
Hypersensitivity to the active substances or to any of the excipients.
Warnings and precautions
This medicine should be used with caution in the elderly, in subjects with a history of prostatic hypertrophy and glaucoma, as well as in cases of stenosing peptic ulcer and bladder neck obstruction.
If the preparation is taken in high doses, systemic antihistamine effects may occur (see “Undesirable effects”).
There is therefore the possibility that sedation may occur (see Effects on ability to drive vehicles)
Possible side effects
Like all medicines, Rinofrenal can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them.
Occasionally, you may experience mild irritation of the nasal mucosa during the first few days of use.
Local manifestations affecting the airway mucosa are possible (sneezing, coughing, pharyngeal irritation with a slight tickling sensation). Transient bronchospasm episodes have been reported very rarely, which promptly recede and can be prevented by the administration of bronchodilators.
If high doses are taken, systemic antihistamine effects, such as sedation and drowsiness, may occur.
Very rarely, undesirable effects have been described, such as nausea, headache, urticaria, angioedema, myalgia, arthralgia, pulmonary eosinophilic infiltrates and intense bronchospastic episodes which may occur at the beginning or during therapy.
Such manifestations require the suspension of treatment.
These side effects are usually transitory. However, when they occur, it is advisable to consult your doctor or pharmacist.
Following the instructions in the package leaflet reduces the risk of side effects.
If any of the side effects gets serious, or if you notice any side effects not listed in this leaflet, please tell your doctor or pharmacist.
