SINETUS SYRUP
Contains
DROSERA: has spasmodic properties on the muscles of the respiratory system, it is indicated to calm both productive and dry cough and to soothe itching in the throat. It is a valid remedy in case of whooping cough and asthma.
ALTEA: has an emollient, anti-inflammatory and soothing action, it is useful in tracheitis and bronchitis.
EUCALYPTUS: indicated for thinning and eliminating bronchial secretions, has anti-inflammatory and antiviral properties, stimulates the immune system.
IVY: has balsamic and expectorant properties.
ELDERBERRY: has anti-inflammatory properties defined as “natural aspirin”, it is commonly used to treat asthma, bronchitis, flu, colds and coughs.
Three Classes of Cough Syrup
MUCOLYTICS: they dissolve mucus by breaking sulfur bonds, thus increasing its volume, so much so that they are absolutely contraindicated in children under two years of age with a note from AIFA (Italian Medicines Agency) because they cause respiratory obstruction and "white death".
SEDATIVES: opiates, contraindicated in COPD, asthma, children, breastfeeding and pregnancy, are defined as "central drugs" as they inhibit the respiratory center and cause sedation.
SOOTHING: These are used to soothe the cough while the illness runs its natural course (if due to a cold) or while the antibiotics defeat the germ (if due to an infectious disease).
Dosage
ADULTS: 15 ml three times a day;
CHILDREN 6 YEARS AND OVER: 10 ml three times a day;
CHILDREN UNDER 6 YEARS: 5 ml three times a day.
