Mercury Free Thermometer
DescriptionMercury-free clinical thermometer. Class IM medical device.
Useful for clinically measuring body temperature when placed under the armpit, orally, or rectally. T-Vedo comes with a case that makes temperature reading easier using an innovative magnifying glass accessory.
How to use
To lower the column of liquid metal in the T-Vedo model, securely grip the end of the thermometer between your thumb and forefinger and, being careful not to squeeze it too hard or hit anything, shake the thermometer downwards several times, until the column of liquid drops below 36°C.
Axillary (placed under the arm): Placing the thermometer in the armpit produces a surface temperature that can vary approximately 0.5°C to 1.5°C compared to rectal temperatures in adults. Once the thermometer is in place, the patient should hold their arm close to their body, without applying pressure but ensuring contact between the bulb and the armpit. The average measurement time for this method is about 5 minutes. It should be noted, however, that an accurate reading may not be obtained if, for example, the armpits have become cold. In this case, it is recommended to extend the measurement time by about 2 minutes to obtain the most accurate reading possible that closely matches body temperature.
Oral (placed in the mouth): There are several warm zones in the mouth. In general, oral temperatures are 0.3°C to 0.8°C lower than rectal temperatures. To ensure the most accurate reading possible, place the thermometer tip to the left or right of the root of the tongue. The thermometer tip should be in constant contact with the tissue during the reading and should be positioned under the tongue. Keep your mouth closed during the reading and breathe regularly through your nose. Do not eat or drink anything before taking the measurement. The average measurement time is about 3 minutes.
Rectal (placed in the rectum): This is the most medically accurate method, as it is closest to body temperature. The thermometer tip is carefully inserted into the rectum up to 0.5 cm. The average measurement time is about 3 minutes.
1. The liquid metal column must always be brought below 36°C before starting a measurement.
2. Before each use, the thermometer must be properly cleaned/disinfected/sterilized (depending on the type of application, the environment where it will be used, and whether it will be used alone or in combination). Sterilize in medical-grade alcohol or in plastic sterilization tubes.
3. In case of rectal measurement, it is advisable to apply a specific lubricant before insertion.
4. It is advisable to avoid physical activity, bathing, eating or smoking at least 30 minutes before taking the measurement.
5. Avoid taking axillary measurements after applying refreshing deodorants or deodorants containing silver particles or other substances. Their use may partially interfere with accurate measurements.
Warnings
1. The use of clinical thermometers for oral temperature measurement is absolutely not recommended in children under 10 years of age.
2. Patients in whom the thermometer is applied orally should take extreme care to avoid chewing, talking, playing, running or moving until the thermometer is removed from the mouth.
3. Rectal thermometer use on children should be performed in a quiet environment, under constant supervision, and with the thermometer held in place with one hand to prevent it from penetrating too deeply or slipping out.
4. Always check the structural integrity of the device at least once a year.
- This thermometer is to be used exclusively for reading body temperature (fever).
- This thermometer is not designed for special applications (e.g. thermometers for premature babies, ovulation thermometers, etc.).

The thermometer body is made of glass, a very fragile material and potentially dangerous if broken. The liquid metal contained within can also be harmful if swallowed, as it could leak if the glass body breaks. Therefore, never leave the thermometer in the hands of children.
Persistent fever, especially in children, should be treated by a doctor. If you have a fever, always consult your doctor.
