Accidental ingestion may cause serious sedative effects.
Accidental ingestion and prolonged use in excessive doses can cause toxicity.
Frequent, prolonged use, or abuse may cause sensitization phenomena and withdrawal effects (mucosal congestion as a "rebound effect") or their worsening.
